Khaleej TimesThe two baby boys and three baby girls, including three Emirati nationals, were born at the Corniche Hospital, the emirate's largest maternity hospital, on Sunday.

The first to be born was Sudanese baby Yousef Elmouez, at 12.19am to Randa Tayeb Al Abbassi and Elmouez Ahmad Abbas, followed closely by Emirati baby Maytha who was born at 12.35am to Muneera Salem Hamad Ali and Dhiab Ahmed Sayeed Al Katheer.

Filipino baby Simone Theresa followed a short 22 minutes later, at 12.57am, to Yvonne Campoamor and Roel Amora. At 4.15am, Emirati baby Salama was born to Mariam Ahmed and Manea Al Mulla, over an hour before fellow Emirati baby Majed Hamad who emerged at 5.50am, to bid parents Hasna Ali Al Katheeri and Hamad Ali Al Balooshi a happy National Day.

The day's second-born baby Maytha was described by her father Dhiab Ahmed as “a gift from God”.

“We are very happy, our happiness is twice because our daughter was born at the same time as the National Day,” he told Khaleej Times.

Ahmed, a businessman, said his fifth child had “happened at the right time”.

Khaleej TimesFor Sudanese couple, Elmouez and Randa, the arrival of their third son Yousef into their lives on National Day was a wish come true. “Actually, we were expecting my wife to deliver on December 5 but we were hoping that he came out early on National Day,” Elmouez said.

He said that his wife's brother had even predicted the National Day birth. The family were hopeful the birth on the auspicious day would bring “luck” to his son.

“The UAE is strong and is a comfortable place to live in, so I wish for him to be the same and live the spirit of National Day. Yousef is a gift from Allah and we are very happy as a family, not only here but also in Sudan,” he said.
