A money exchange house in the UAE has recently sent out an alert to its customers regarding a scam that is spreading on social media.
"Beware of fraudulent messages circulating on social media claiming you won a prize. Please report them to authorities and avoid sharing your personal details," the SMS from Al Ansari Exchange read.

Earlier, Khaleej Times reported that some of these scams on social media include fraudsters who pretend to be famous personalities in order to dupe unsuspecting residents. These unverified and fake accounts appealed to residents via humanitarian cases, a press release by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority said.
Last year, some 5,000 fake social media accounts were blocked in the UAE through a smart system, the Dubai Police said during the launch of their awareness campaign against online fraud.
