FFF Grey win Summer Indoor Cup on penalties

DUBAI - FFF Grey lifted the Summer Indoor League Cup beating FFF Blue 2-1 via penalties after scores were tied 1-1 at the end of regulation time.

Eight teams were divided into two groups with the top two qualifying for the Cup semi-finals and the bottom two contested in the Plate semi-finals FFF Grey won all their games to top Group A while on the other hand, FFF Blues did the same in Group B.

In the Plate competition semi-finals, Mumbaikar Reds beat Mumbaikar Blacks 1-0 through Russell Rosario’s goal and Jaffery Boys overcame MumbaikarWhite 1-0 courtesy of Bilal’s goal. The plate was won by Mumbaikar Reds, with a bizarre goal when goalkeeper Simplex scored directly from his box.

In the Cup semi-finals between FFF Greys and FFF Reds, the game was dominated by Greys, who took a 2-0 lead with Ayul Adatia scoring both goals. Russel Rodriguez pulled one back but could not stop FFF Greys from booking their place in the final.

The second semi-finals was also a keen affair as FFF Blues beat Incredibles 3-2 via the tiebreaker after scores were 1-1 at the end of regulation time. It took a penalty shoot-out to separate the sides as two crucial saves by Shaneabbas Yusifali in the FFF Blues goal helped his side book a place in the final.

The final saw the two FFF sides play some food team football. The only reason the two teams went into the break goalless was both keepers were in good form. A breakaway saw Hussein Walji Feed Murteza Jordi give FFF Blues the lead. Just when the trophy had Blue ribbons put on them, up stepped Greys captain Sadik Dhirani to score with the last kick of the game to take the teams into a penalty shoot-out where Greys prevailed 2-1 with Mujtaba Walji scoring the winning spot-kick.
