The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Monday reported 1,060 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 1,659 recoveries and 4 deaths.

The new cases were detected through 290,691 additional tests.


More than 72.2 million PCR tests have been conducted across the country to date.

The total number of cases in UAE as on August 23 are 710,438 while total recoveries stand at 692,585. The death toll now stands at 2,024.


The General Directorate of Residence and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA), Dubai, has extended the expiry date of residence visas for nationals of India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Nigeria and Uganda who are stranded abroad, Dubai-based carrier flydubai said on its website.

The visas have been extended till November 10, 2021, the airline said.

On Sunday, health authorities announced that students aged 12 and above who are not vaccinated against Covid-19 will need to take a PCR test every week for in-person learning.

Vaccinated students aged 12 and above; and unvaccinated ones under 12 will need to undergo a PCR test every month.

The revised guidelines came as authorities in the UAE announced a Covid-19 vaccination and PCR testing protocol for students of schools and colleges.

On Sunday, a circular issued by the Federal Authority For Government Human Resources (FAHR) stated that federal government employees who are not fully vaccinated against Covid-19 would need to take a PCR test every two days.

Previously, unvaccinated federal government staff were required to take the PCR tests every seven days.
