Bicycle manoeuvre
Lie on back; lift knees to 450 angle; make pedalling motion, touching each knee with the opposite elbow
Captain's chair
Done on common piece of gym equipment; slowly lift and lower knees together, maintaining good control
Crunch on exercise ball
Sit with feet flat; slowly roll until ball is under lower back, thighs and trunk are horizontal; raise upper body to 45 degree angle or less, then lower; repeat
