Thabet Al-Tarifi, director-general of the Sharjah Municipality, said that launching of this facility reflects the civic body's keenness to provide the best services to the public. It is also meant to reduce time and effort by adopting the 'Sabek' project, through which the municipality seeks to go digital, he pointed out.
Khalid bin Falah Al-Suwaidi, assistant general manager of the customer service sector, explained that the municipality has provided customers with many options to benefit from public parking services. These options include the conventional method of payment through fee payment machines available across the city or through text messages or parking in investment yards or through subscriptions, whether annual, semi-annual or for a period of three months.
He pointed out that the subscription system started in 2007. With the development of inspection techniques, the administration converted these subscriptions into digital and did away with the stickers placed on the windshield of the vehicle, he added. "During the past year, the municipality issued 4,477 new subscriptions and renewed 13,183 subscriptions.”
