The laboratory will ensure that the materials being used for construction purposes in the booming emirate are of high quality.

The Ajman Municipality started work to set up the laboratory in Sharjah industrial area following the instructions of Shaikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ajman Department of Municipality and Planning.

The laboratory, which is equipped with the advanced testing equipment, employs a large number of engineers and specialists.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, Engr. Ahmed Abdul Razaq, Director (Technical) of Ajman Department of Municipality and Planning, explained that the lab would analyse the properties of building materials, and help curb malpractices of some contracting and real estate companies.

It would also help investors looking for ways to protect their businesses from unscrupulous contracting companies.
