Samridhi Kalia was ecstatic after smashing another world record for doing a hundred yoga poses in a small box within three minutes. This is the third yoga title she clinched, and the second in less than a month.
The 11-year-old entered the Golden Book of World Records once again on Thursday for executing the 'fastest hundred yoga postures performed in restricted space'. She completed the challenge in three minutes and 18 seconds at the iconic Burj Khalifa's viewing deck, At The Top.
Samridhi's third world record just weeks after getting the title for performing around 40 advanced yoga postures in one minute inside a small box. She claimed the second world record on International Day of Yoga, which is observed on June 21 every year.
The Grade 7 student of Ambassador School in Dubai believes that such incredible achievements are made possible with sheer hard work and perseverance.
"All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them. Work hard in silence, let success be your noise. I feel that my greatest asset is not my physical ability, it is my mental ability," the young girl said.
Amid the Covid-19 situation, Samridhi has not been able to practise with a coach in person, but she remained committed to honing her skills and pushing limits.
"I feel one should never give up. I practise morning and evening every day. It feels really nice when everybody around is proud of you. It encourages you to put in your best and be your best," Samridhi said.
She approaches her goal with great discipline but she's not only a yogi. Apart from three hours of daily yoga practice, she plays lawn tennis, cycles, swims, enjoys ice skating, and is learning badminton as well.
Samridhi is not only adept at various yoga asanas but has also won accolades in artistic and rhythmic yoga. She also bagged the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Award in January 2020 that was presented by the Consulate-General of India for her outstanding achievements in yoga.
Sharing her past experiences, she said: "I always try to challenge myself further every time. The first record that I created in January this year was for doing the maximum number of advanced yoga postures, which were about 33 postures in a span of one minute, not in a restricted area. Then, the second one followed suit and now with the third one, I am thrilled."
Her proud parents have witnessed Samridhi's hard work and determination right when she started learning yoga.
"Samridhi has been learning yoga since the age of six. Her interest in this field has helped her reach the highest levels by winning not only at the national level but also at various international competitions," said her father Sidharth Kalia.
"We are fascinated by her devotion, hard work and her unparalleled commitment towards her goals in life. She has not wasted a single day since the lockdown has started and has been continuously practicing every day in a disciplined fashion and has been working towards her goal to set another world record. Perseverance never goes waste and here she is with another accomplishment, making all of us very proud."
