A fire broke out in a building in Abu Dhabi City on Sunday, August 9. This is the second reported incident of fire at a residential area in the past three days.
On Sunday afternoon, a nine-storey building nearby the Universal Hospital on Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Street (Old Airport Road) caught fire.
Abu Dhabi Civil Defence rushed to the spot and put out the blaze.
The fire is believed to have started from the restaurant on the ground floor and spread upwards.
Residents in the building were immediately evacuated. No injuries have been reported so far.
"By 2:00 pm, I noticed this blaze. I rushed to the spot. Immediately fire engines reached the spot. Situation was brought under control. None have been hurt," Muqadar, an expat who lives nearby, said.
