In this day and age where most of us and mostly the younger generation have been brought up on a surfeit of T20 or T10 cricket, the crash-boom-bang version, if you will, purists still swear by the longest version — Test cricket.

As we speak, an enthralling Test match is underway, 12,044 kilometres away, to be precise. India are locked in a battle of attrition against Australia at the most famous Sydney Cricket Ground.

And it is the fifth and final day with India battling to save the Test with the final session left to play out before the sun sets on the Sydney harbour.

Allrounder R Ashwin and Hanuman Vihari, battling a hamstring, were at the crease to keep India afloat. Earlier, an already injured Rishabh Pant knocked up 97 from 118 deliveries to dent the Aussies.

It has been riveting stuff with the hosts needing five wickets and India needing to survive the last session of this Test match.
