226 prisoners pardoned by Maktoum
DUBAI - His Highness Shaikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday pardoned 226 prisoners serving sentences in Dubai prisons.
In line with the amnesty issued by the Ruler, General Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defence Minister, ordered that the inmates, who hail from different countries, be released with immediate effect.
The pardon has been granted to mark Eid Al Adha, according to Major-General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police.
