British Embassy in Dubai felicitates Olympic teams

The British Embassy in Dubai hosted a private reception at the residence of Her Majesty’s Consul General Guy Warrington to say ‘Good Luck’ and ‘Farewell’ to the UAE Olympic and Paralympic contingents for the 30th Summer Olympic Games in London, a media relase stated.

With the Olympics opening ceremony just 82 days away the British Embassy hosted athletes from the weightlifting, judo and wrestling sides.

Participants of the other disciplnes are in training abroad.

Warrington said: “I am grateful for the close collaboration the British Embassy has had with both the National Olympic Committee and the National Paralympic Committee in the lead up to the Games.

The Embassy has been marking the milestones for the Games for some time now but I am particularly delighted to be able to offer my personal messages of ‘Good Luck’ and ‘Farewell’ to some of the UAE athletes that will be competing in the most important competition of their lives in London this summer.”

Warrington also offered his congratulations to the wider UAE ‘Olympics family’ including the coaches, medical staff and technical staff.

Representing the UAE National Olympic Committee, the body’s head of finance Abdul Rahman Falaknaz, spoke of the national teams’ proud feeling to be participating in London. The reception was also attended by Issa Saleh Al Gurg.
