The gaffer has arrived for the Delhi Capitals. Coach Ricky Ponting touched down in Dubai on Thursday ahead of this season's Indian Premier League (IPL), which begins next month.

The former Australia captain, dressed in a black tracksuit and black tee, with white sneakers, arrived in the morning before making his way to the team hotel Palace Downtown.

The Delhi Capitals posted an image of him on their official Twitter handle with the caption: 'Coach checks in. Welcome to Dubai, @RickyPonting,' accompanied by a love-eyed emoji.

Soon after checking into the hotel, Ponting tweeted: 'My view for the next 6 days, hotel quarantine is officially underway,' accompanied by an image of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard in Downtown Dubai.

Ponting will undergo the mandatory quarantine period during which he will undergo three Covid-19 tests on the first day, third day and the sixth day.

Prior to his departure from Australia, Ponting had tweeted: 'Really hard to leave my family behind at this time, but next stop Dubai. See you soon @delhicapitals'

Ponting, who previously coached the Mumbai Indians from 2014 to 2016, was appointed by the Delhi Capitals in 2018.

The Delhi Capitals had arrived on Sunday.
