Tears of joy?

It’s not unusual for high achievers to get disappointed with their performance in final exams. That was exactly the case for Vaishali Vinod, a student of the Our Own English High School, Dubai.

Scoring 95.2 per cent in the humanities stream, Vaishali broke into tears when she saw her result. She was disappointed as she felt she could have scored more.

“I knew she was expecting around 98 per cent and what she had achieved was not at par with her expectations. The results came as a big disappointment to her,” said Vaishali’s mother, Dr Sujatha Parthasarathy.

However, little idea did she have that her results had placed her as the UAE topper in the humanities stream.

Vaishali scored 100 in psychology, which brought a little respite to the otherwise ‘gloomy’ result. Her disappointment turned into joy later during the day as she got news of her acceptance into one of India’s best law colleges, the National Law Institute University (NLIU), Bhopal.

“She was in India waiting for her Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) results and they were also announced on the same day. She has done well and secured an admission for a law studies programme,” said the overjoyed mother.

The student had worked hard to achieve her dreams. Her story resonates with the achievements of thousands of students who put their best to achieve dreams and make them a reality. -
