Two jobless get jail term for possessing fake currency

Two jobless Asian men were sentenced by the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance on Thursday to six months each in jail for possessing fake Indian rupees worth 68,000.

The court ordered the deportation of the duo after serving their jail term, and confiscation of the counterfeit currency notes.

According to court records, the duo, W. K. F., 38, and Y. G., 27, were arrested at the Al Muraqqabat police station with fake currency of INR68,000 in their possession. Investigations showed that they were intending to circulate the fake currency at the money exchange shops.

On interrogation, they confessed to have possessed the counterfeit money with intent of dealing with them.

The Public Prosecution referred them to the court, 
after indicting them of possessing and circulating fake currency.
