“This change has been made to support the current development in the emirate,” said Shaikh Rashid while talking to Khaleej Times on Saturday on the first day of assuming charge as chairman of the Ajman Department of the Municipality and Planning.
It is to be mentioned here that on June 24, His Highness Shaikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, issued an Amiri decree No. 7 for the year 2005 to change Ajman municipality’s name to Ajman Department of Municipality and Planning. As per the second article of the decree, Shaikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuami will act as the chairman of the new department. Shaikh Rashid will be the highest administrative authority in the department and responsible of its performances in terms of services and public dealings before the Amiri Court.
Meanwhile, Shaikh Rashid said that the new department would play a great role in promoting the projects concerning road construction, transport, utility services as well as replanning of residential areas and launching of shopping malls and markets.
On his first day in the office, Shaikh Rashid met Director-General of the Municipality, Ali Al Hamrani, and heads and deputy heads of the various sections, who briefed him about the plans and achievements of the municipality during 2004 and 2005.
He told the heads of the sections that with their efforts and coordination, the department would enhance public services and promote the planing projects which contribute to developing the infrastructure and attracting investment activities in the emirate. He urged them to provide him with their strategic plans and suggestions which would help enhance the performance of the department.
