‘Night-only shifts will cut down heatstroke cases’

AJMAN — The number of heatstroke cases reported last year in Khalifa Hospital in Ajman dropped by 40 per cent as compared to the previous years, according to Dr Abdul Kareem Hilimi, Head of the Emergency Section of the hospital, who attributes the drop in cases to the mid-day break for workers introduced last year.

Eviction deadline extended by two months

SHARJAH — The Sharjah Directorate of Town Planning and Survey (DTPS) has extended by two months the eviction notice deadline issued to tenants of Sharjah Industrial Area No. 6, whose buildings will be demolished in view of the King Abdul Aziz Roads expansion project.

Nationals granted 1,200 plots of land in Ajman

AJMAN — Around 1,200 plots of land in the Al Jarf area were granted by the Shaikh Zayed Housing Project to UAE nationals in Ajman, according to Shaikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ajman Department of Municipality and Planning (ADMP).

Sharjah civic body helping nationals to build houses

SHARJAH — As part the emirate's overall expansion plans, the Sharjah Municipality has started to level the lands provided to nationals in Al Nouf, Al Garayen and Al Juraina areas to encourage them to construct their houses there.

Short-circuit causes fire in Sharjah flat

SHARJAH — A fire broke out on Friday night in an apartment of the Giordano Building in Al Wahda Street due to electric short circuit, according to an official of the Sharjah Civil Defence. There were no casualties, but the loss of properties, including the belongings of Apartment No. 16 are approximately estimated at 75 per cent.

Construction work on building stopped

AJMAN — Construction work on a new tower at the Ajman Corniche was stopped by the municipality, as the contracting and consultancy companies were found not abiding by safety and security procedures that protect labourers on the site.
