Brigadier Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Director of Al Nuaimia Police Station, said that the police had received a complaint from M.E., also of Arab origin, that somebody had stolen money from his apartment. An officer visited the complainant’s apartment and carried out a thorough investigation. He took the fingerprints and talked to the family members in connection with the crime.

The police investigation revealed that the cash was stolen by a family friend who used to visit them regularly. Trusting him, M.E. had told him about the money and where it was kept in the house.

On questioning, the accused admitted to the police that he had visited the apartment when nobody was home and entered the premises using a duplicate key to steal the money.

The case has been transferred to the public prosecution.
