Sharjah civic body helping nationals to build houses

SHARJAH — As part the emirate's overall expansion plans, the Sharjah Municipality has started to level the lands provided to nationals in Al Nouf, Al Garayen and Al Juraina areas to encourage them to construct their houses there.

The Dh70,000 project aims at reducing the ground level by about 30 centimeter lower than the main roads, to facilitate construction work in the area.

The projects is being executed under instructions of His Higness DR Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

Speaking to Khaleej Times Dr Abdullah Al Amri, Director-General Of the Sharjah Municipality who visited the project sites, said this initiative was part of the Municipality's plan of a comprehensive construction project to cope with the rapid population growth in the emirate. Also, he added, it would meet the need for proper housing of nationals.

The project is being coordinated with other government department like the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority to ensure that proper civic facilities are available in the area.
