Classic cars collector from Saudi Arabia, Abdul Rahman Al-Abri gifted a truck to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia.
Abri, who owns a classic cars museum, has over 100 cars. Many of them date back to 1946.
However, the reason why he chose to gift King Salman the truck and not any of his classic cars was disclosed by him to the Al Arabiya.
The truck was bought by him some 22 years ago and kept in his museum.
Since the truck is rare, he ordered the spare parts for the truck from America. The truck was repaired and used in several festivals.
"I gave the truck as a gift to King Salman when he was governor of Riyadh in 2006 and he was the one who told me that its name is 'Dasman' as this is what they called it. King Salman remembered this type of truck well and told me that they used them for transporting horses and that at the time they used to learn how to drive them in a desert, close to Riyadh," Al Arabiya quoted Abri saying.
Sharing his experience during his recent visit to King Salman at Al-Ajwa Palace, the chairman of the board of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage, Abri said: "When I entered, I saw the Dasman, as King Salman likes to call it, in front of the palace."
