“The Republic of Kosovo has established diplomatic relations with the Sultanate of Oman,” Kosovo’s deputy foreign minister Vlora Citaku, told reporters.

She added that the the Gulf state sent a letter to Kosovo’s embassy in London requesting the official establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Oman’s move was the second recognition of Kosovo from the Gulf region this year, following a similar move by Qatar, the foreign ministry said.

That makes a total of 75 countries that have granted recognition to Kosovo, including the United States and most members of the European Union, since its declaration of independence three years ago.

Serbia opposes the move and still considers the territory as its southern province.
