He did not attend the school for more than two months, yet he scored 95.8 per cent in ICSE exams. This he achieved by studying in hospital while he was being treated for cancer.
16-year-old Raghav Chandak was diagnosed with acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in April last year. The disease and the treatment forced him to miss his classes which he was unable to attend for more than two months.
However, eager to get through ICSE exams, he got all his books and notes to the hospital while he was being treated. His cousin, who studied in the same class, supplied him all the notes to the hospital.
"He was in the hospital for one and a half month at a stretch. Then he had to go seven days each month to the hospital for chemotherapy which weakened his immune system but not his spirit," Manorama online quoted his father saying.
His school also provided support with his teachers extending help on phone as well. Class notes were arranged for him. Whenever he would attend any special class, a special bench would be laid out for him as there was fear of infections spreading on to other students.
"I would not have been able to do this without everyone's support-my parents, teachers, friends, cousin and family doctor," he said.
After finishing the school, he wishes to get into IITs.
