I remember the time when Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor went down to Size Zero for an eminently forgettable film called Tashan. The film sank without a trace, but what remained was a slew of discussions on the viability of Size Zero. There were books written, television chat shows aired and diet plans charted out. How feasible was it to sustain in the long run? More importantly, was it good for general health? And alongside, what did it do to body image issues at a time when a lot of people were debating being comfortable in your uncompromised body type? Inevitably, there was talk of waif-like catwalk models who were Size Zero - or so it seemed - by default: the same set of questions were posed about them. This week, we revisit the trend, which is still in vogue (despite protestations), and speak to a bunch of women associated with the modelling industry. What does it mean to be Size Zero? Why is it par for the course (or is it actually not)? The responses are pretty potent, and we hope this opens up discussion boards once more!
