What are you reading now?
I am reading two books at the moment: The Girl from the Sea by Shalini Boland and How to be Happy by Eva Woods. The first is a thriller, and the fourth I've read this month by Shalini. They are what I call my 'escapism books': fast-paced, easy reads with fun twists. I alternate between fiction and non-fiction, depending on whether I'm in the mood to engage my mind or close off and relax. The second book is very thought-provoking and filled with lessons on love, friendship and forgiveness. Following the friendship of a woman who has lost everything and a woman who is terminally ill, it has made me laugh out loud and shed a few tears. The perfect poolside book.
A book that changed your life.
The Feel the Fear Guide to Lasting Love by Susan Jeffers. Ignore the clichéd title! From the author of another great read, 'Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway', this is not a girly read - but a book that helps you analyse all your relationships and look inside yourself to understand why they are the way they are.
A book you think is underrated?
168 Hours: You Have More Time Than You Think by Laura Vanderkam. We often feel like we don't have enough time to do the things we enjoy. The book gives you the tools to compartmentalise your life and makes you see you have much more time than you think.
Your favourite literary character.
Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games - I love her stubbornness and strength. She stands by her beliefs when the whole world tries to make her think in a different way. She does not accept what she knows is wrong, just because what is happening around her has become the norm.
