I started using hair oil after many years. But it feels like my hair is falling even more. I use castor oil sometimes, and coconut oil at other times. Please advise.

The best treatment for you would be to mix two tablespoons of aloe vera gel with one tablespoon of lemon juice. Massage this onto the scalp and leave on for at least two hours (or overnight) before washing it off. Do this three times a week. This strengthens roots and adds volume to the hair. It may not be an oil but will help your hair fall problem.

My daughter is 13 years old and she has acne on her forehead, and small blackheads and pimples under her eyes. She has been trying medicated treatments for two months now and it seems to be getting worse as she has dry skin. Could you suggest something? Also, any remedies for dry, curly hair?

Thanks for your email. For the pimples, take one teaspoon of mint paste and add one teaspoon of aloe vera gel, two drops of lemon juice and oats powder to make a smooth paste. Apply this onto the skin daily. Her pimples will dry up and the skin will improve. Coconut milk is a great moisturiser and conditioner for the hair. Apply this before every shower, comb your hair, and leave on for about 30 minutes before shampooing. Do this twice every week.

I'm 24 years old and have a habit of washing my hair regularly. My scalp gets very oily and itchy if I wash it on alternate days, so I've taken to using diluted shampoos instead. Can you suggest a remedy? I'm worried about premature greying.

Take one tablespoon of aloe vera gel and add one teaspoon of lemon juice to it. Beat well and massage onto the scalp. After 30 minutes, rinse off in the shower; there's no need to use shampoo. Your scalp will be clean and healthy and the oiliness will no longer bother you. Do this every alternate day.
My 17-year-year-old daughter, who stays in a hostel in Nairobi, has developed a lot of boils on her face. She usually gets pimples during her monthly cycle and two have left permanent marks. Her skin used to be very clear and smooth. Also, her hair is thinning to such an extent that her scalp can be seen in some places. Please suggest some remedies as I'm worried about her.

Take two tablespoons of mashed banana and add one tablespoon of lemon juice and one teaspoon of cinnamon powder; massage this onto the scalp and face. After an hour, rinse it off. This treatment is excellent for hair and skin issues.
