You would have definitely stumbled upon the Bohemian, or Boho, décor home style on your social media. It’s an all-audience-pleasing look based on creating a comfort and carefree vibe. It’s a completely creative playground with this style and here are a few interesting ways to achieve this look.

Texture and colour play

First, let’s talk about the palette. There is no hard and fast rule for this look because of its flexible nature. However, there are a few things to keep in mind that will make the end result worth it. Choose a base colour that is of a neutral tone: whites, light shades of beige or grey. This to help accentuate all the other texture and accessories that you will incorporate in your space. Earthy tones are great to add to this look as well.

There are endless ways to bring in colours and textures in the Boho style. Starting from singular furniture pieces like armchairs to beautiful Persian carpets.

Furniture

The best kind of furniture for this style is that which looks and feels natural. Think wood, rattan, wicker and cane. Vintage and refurbished furniture also make wonderful statement pieces and will give character to your space.

Giving a very comfortable and laidback vibe is the essence of truly cracking this style. It’s as simple as opting for low seating, like floor diwans, pillows or pouffes instead of a modern-style armchair. Relaxed seating furniture pieces like chaise lounge and daybeds are made for this style. Coffee tables with wood carving details or a wooden bookshelf are great additions too. The idea is to maximise the visual identity of your room.

Accessories

In the Boho interior philosophy, the saying is “more is more”. You can play with colourful wall tapestries, large patterned throw rugs and pillows. The more personalised each item is, the more value it adds to the space. Anything that you would have collected from your travels or even a prized antique collection will find a corner made for it. There are multiple DIY pieces that you can create, like wind catcher accessories, large artistic rattan mirror pieces, hand woven macramé wall hangings, etc. What better way to make your home decorating experience truly memorable. Ever dreamt of adding that touch of a “Bali” feel to your bedroom? Canopy beds with soft-flowing fabric curtains and a bed bench with wooden legs can tie the entire look together.

The green touch

Plants are signature elements for this style. Any Bohemian space will have a variety of plants in its own unique pot (and if inspired by the previous point, you would have perhaps painted it on your own). You can have an array of succulents, hanging plants or go bold with a large Monstera by your reading chair.

Lighting

It is a game changer. In the Bohemian style, you can play with different light sources to add that warm and cozy touch to your living or bedroom space. Feel free to explore new shapes and materials for your pendant lights. You can even mix and match multiple light fixtures to add that creative touch. Candles are also perfect for that natural warmth.

This style gives you the advantage of making every corner of your house resonate with your personality. Go bold with your taste in furniture or accessories!
