A tough act to follow

Toughness is a measure of character. That's what my father always said. Not the ability to take a caning or being wary of crying (because that may make you appear "weak" - and who wants to be a weakling?), not appearing tough (like Clint Eastwood did unfailingly), but being tough mentally. Being able to take the downs and the troughs in your stride. Thinking through clearly while being swamped. It says a lot about one as a person when one doesn't buckle - in the face of (unwieldy) circumstances, pressure points or emotional blackmail. John Dabrowski went through a series of reinventions in life - from sports to corporate to creative and then life coach. Having been through ups and downs in life, he now teaches "mental toughness". How's that for a tough act to follow? Meet John and take stock of your toughness quotient.
Fashion is now ethical and sustainable. Green is the way to go forward, according to many top fashionistas and designers. Emma Watson created a real stir when she stepped out in 'ethical wear' earlier this month. Not too familiar with this trend? Time you get acquainted with "conscious" fashion then. Turn the pages! Bollywood tracks perky Preity Zinta's stardom and her recent tying of the knot to one Mr Goodenough, and hopes this is not the end of the road for her (we hope so too!). Dum Dum Donutterie's Paul Hurley tells us why doughnuts do not need to send you off on a guilt trip.
All this and much more.
Enjoy reading wknd. and have a great weekend.
