Dubai - Residents near valleys should watch out for flash floods.
"There are no severe weather conditions, but this is a normal rainy weather. The public should only rely on official sources of information related to weather updates," the forecaster from the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) underlined.
He explained that "technically a storm is a disturbance of the atmosphere marked by wind, rain, or thunder and lightning. The wind in particular should have a speed of at least 103 to 117kmph to be classified as a storm".
He did advise residents to be alert of flash floods along valleys.
Scattered rains will fall along the coastal areas from Ras Al Khaimah westward to Abu Dhabi as well as the northern emirates and the eastern region. Rain is expected to start falling over some western, eastern and northern areas of the country by Tuesday evening.
"The rainy convective clouds over scattered areas of the country will be accompanied by moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, causing blowing dust and sand with poor visibility at times with a speed of 20-30kmph, reaching a maximum of 50kmph."
The seas will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and moderate becoming rough at times with clouds in Oman Sea, the forecast added.
