Winners of Excellence Awards to be honoured in Dubai

Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the winners of the Dubai Government Excellence Programme (DGEP) Awards will be honoured at a ceremony tomorrow, Tuesday, at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The Dubai Government Excellence Programme, a comprehensive and integrated programme affiliated to the Dubai Executive Council, mainly aims to improve the quality of government services in Dubai. The programme also seeks to enhance the performance of government employees to further enhance Dubai's global competitiveness when benchmarked with prestigious global organisations.
Secretary General of the Executive Council of Dubai and Chairman of DGEP Abdulla Al Shaibani, said that the performance of government entities has seen substantial improvements. Average improvement jumped 11 per cent in the category of Distinguished Government Entity compared to last year. "We firmly believe in His Highness's statement, "You should make your employees happy so they can ensure the happiness of society", which was reflected in the exceptional performance of government entities in Dubai," Al Shaibani said.
"Under the guidance of Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, we have a clear strategy to enhance government excellence and performance, so that we can further enhance Dubai's competitiveness at a global level."
Coordinator General of the Dubai Government Excellence Programme Ahmed Al Nusairat said that the DGEP Awards provide an opportunity for individuals, teams and government departments to excel in the services they provide, and move from "measuring customer satisfaction to measuring their happiness." 
Al Nusairat also said that that Shaikh Hamdan follows up on the progress of DGEP to ensure that it remains consistent with the government's strategic plan to achieve the objectives of UAE Vision 2021 and Dubai Plan 2021.
The key categories of the DGEP Awards include Best in Customer Satisfaction, Best in Employee Satisfaction, Distinguished Financial Performance, Distinguished Electronic Performance, Distinguished Team Performance, Distinguished Administrative Initiative, Distinguished Technical Project, and Distinguished Government Employee.
