The court heard that the young Arab woman had visited the hotel a few weeks ago and handed over her car to the Asian worker at the hotel reception so he could take it to the parking area. After she spent a few hours at the hotel, the woman's car was brought back from the parking lot by another man.
Before leaving the hotel, the woman checked on her ring she had left in the car and was shocked to find that it was missing. She claimed that the ring was on the front seat inside a small packet.
The woman immediately complained to the hotel management who were able to identify the worker who had taken her car to the parking lot.
The Asian man confessed to stealing the ring when confronted by his bosses.
The woman and the hotel management then reported the matter to the police.
After investigations, the public prosecutors referred the man to court on the charge of theft.
In court, the worker admitted to stealing the gold ring from the woman's car.
He pleaded for forgiveness stressing that he will never commit the crime again.
"After spending a short time at the hotel, I returned to the visitor's reception and told the valet parking service personnel to bring my car after I handed over the parking card for vehicle identification," the woman told the court.
"When I looked for my ring which I had left in the car, it was not to be found inside the vehicle. I immediately informed the hotel management who initiated investigation into the matter and found out the thief."
The trial was adjourned until February 12.
