Public prosecution documents note that the lawyer had filed a criminal case against his client, whom he had agreed to defend. He said they had agreed upon a fee of Dh25,000 in the event that the judgement was issued in his client's favour.
According to their contract, the lawyer defended his client before the Court of First Instance. As the ruling issued was not in his client's favour, he appealed the judgement before the Supreme Court. However, the court's decision was consistent with the previous ruling.
When the lawyer asked his client to pay his fees, the defendant refused to and blamed the lawyer for the failure of his case.
Unable to reach an agreement with the defendant, the plaintiff was forced to file a case against his client.
The court ruled in his favour and ordered the defendant to pay a fee of Dh10,000 to the lawyer.
