The court, presided over by Chief Judge Sameh Shaker, ordered the third accused to pay a fine of Dh150,000 as well.
As per court records, the trio used the forged seal for counterfeiting official documents and tenancy contracts for residential and commercial units.
They allegedly faked the lease contracts to get rent amounts in violation of law.
The case unfolded when the landlord of a property discovered that the tenancy contract of her unit has been renewed without her consent while she was abroad. The RAK Police, alerted of the forgery, arrested the suspects who denied the charges altogether.
They were referred to the court, where they denied the accusations again. The first defendant claimed that he worked in a roastery shop and knew nothing about the charges while the second defendant said he was abroad at the time of the crime, and was detained upon his arrival at the airport.
He added that he has been working in Ras Al Khaimah for 18 years, and he never got involved in any crime.
Advocate Haid Abdulhadi told Khaleej Times that forgery spans the "alteration of a genuine instrument, whether by adding, removing or changing any of its written parts, numbers, marks or pictures".
"Forgery also occurs whenever one tries to obtain by surprise or by fraud the signature, seal or imprint of a person who is not aware of the contents of the instrument or who has not validly given his consent thereon."
Abdulhadi added that assuming the name of another person or substituting it in a document which has been prepared specifically to prove the identity of such other person is also forgery.
