An Arab man has been ordered by the Ras Al Khaimah Civil Court to pay his ex-wife Dh70,000 in compensation for sending obscene and abusive messages to her. He will also have to serve a two-month jail for the offence.
As per the prosecution charge sheet, the defendant urged his ex-wife, who is now married to another man, to sleep with him out of the wedlock. He didn't stop at that and also used abusive words against her.
A Sharjah court found the ex-husband guilty and sentenced him to two months in jail. The case was referred to the RAK Civil Court which ordered him to pay his former wife a compensation of Dh70,000, apart from serving the jail sentence.
The court said that the woman was hurt by the abusive and inappropriate messages she received from her ex-husband. She also had to pay court charges and lawyer fees.
The defendant didn't care about the fact that his former wife is now married to another man and has children.
The RAK Civil Court convicted the man and ordered him to pay his ex-wife the damages as well as serve the jail term.
