As many as 2,059 rain-related reports have been handled by the Ras Al Khaimah Police over the last two days.
Around 74 patrols were deployed across the emirate to attend to any emergency situation as promptly as possible," said Major-General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, General Commander of the RAK Police.
"Many of the reports handled were about vehicles stuck in flooded roads; some of the cars broke down as well," pointed out Brigadier Salem Sultan Al Darmaki, Acting Director General of the Central Operations. A number of reports were of rainwater accumulating on the roads, he added.
Brigadier Darmaki said it is dangerous for people to venture out or drive in this unstable weather. "The mountainous valleys are filled with rainwater and the public is urged to avoid valleys and slippery roads." They should contact the central operations room in case of emergency," he underlined.
"The public must observe traffic rules and regulations to ensure road users' safety," he said, adding that none of the road accidents reported over the last two days were major.
"These were only minor crashes with no human casualties," he said. "The RAK Police issue traffic updates round the clock on its social media accounts."
