A 28-year-old Asian man died in a run-over accident in Ras Al Khaimah late on Tuesday. He was crossing the Wakalat Road from a non-designated area when a car being driven by a 40-year-old Emirati ran over him.

Brigadier Ahmad Al Sam Al Naqbi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Department, RAK Police, said they were alerted about the accident at 10.15pm.

Police patrols and paramedics rushed to the spot, but found the youth dead at the site. "The body was shifted to the morgue and the accident file referred to the bodies concerned for legal procedures."

Brig Al Naqbi urged residents to cross roads only from designated pedestrian crossings. "They need to ensure that the road is clear before crossing it," the officer said.
