The government announced that they will be paying the fees and plane tickets for Filipino expats who wish to avail of the UAE's amnesty programme from August 1 to October 31.
In a Facebook post, the Philippine Embassy said that financial assistance will be given to those opting for repatriation. The consulate in Dubai also made a similar announcement. In order to attain assistance, the applicant's most recent visa must be issued in Abu Dhabi or Dubai respectively. The financial aid will cover the payment for exit passes, penalty for absconding and a one-way ticket back to the Philippines.

However, not everyone will be given financial support. According to the Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes, the UAE amnesty programme is only for those with overstaying and absconding cases. "It does not cover those with police cases (bank loans, baby cases, etc.)," the envoy wrote on Facebook.

Those who choose to have their status in the UAE changed instead, are not covered by the financial aid.
