'A Walk' to promote values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence will mark the activities of International Day for Tolerance in Dubai.
The International Day for Tolerance, which falls on November 16, has been observed by countries all over the world since Unesco introduced it in 1995
Dubai Police are organising 'the Walk' today in association with Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Tolerance, which will see a mass participation of citizens and residents of the UAE.
A number of prominent UAE and foreign dignitaries will participate in the march, which will kick off on Thursday at 11.30am in the City Walk.
Brigadier Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, director-general of emergency and security bodies at the Dubai Police, said: "The Dubai Police are always keen to celebrate various local, Arab and international events and to participate actively in all initiatives launched by the country's wise leadership."
He added that the event will also be attended by a members of the consular and department directors and representatives of the Arab and foreign communities in the country.
Al Ghaithi said that while the manifestations of extremism, racism and hatred are rampant in many parts of the world, the UAE is proving to be a country of tolerance, coexistence and love. More than 200 communities of different nationalities live here in total harmony.
He pointed out that UAE is the first country in the world to appoint a minister of tolerance. "It is an affirmation of the deep commitment to humanitarian principles that reflects the UAE's global leadership in this field and its deep commitment to the values ??of tolerance."
There will be competitions for the public on the sidelines of the march and prizes and prizes, including iPhone X phones.
