The Fujairah Municipality has granted big factories operating in the old industrial area in Fujairah a grace period, latest by December 31 this year, to relocate to the new industrial area in Al Hail neighbourhood.
Around 98 per cent of factories operating in the old industrial area - in line with the municipality's order - have shifted to the new industrial area.
The Fujairah municipality is currently resuming the second demolition phase to tear down all workshops, factories, and trading shops in the old industrial area, according to Mohammed Saif Al Afkham, Director-General of the municipality. The first phase of demolition started from January 1 this year. "In case of failure to relocate, hefty fines shall be imposed," he said.
He added that the licences of the establishments that will not observe the municipality's order will be written off as well.
About 70% of the demolition works that included big factories, workshops, and scrap shops have been completed, Al Afkham said.
The new industrial area, he said, spreads over a total area of 13 square kilometres and its entire infrastructure has been completed to serve and provide the services to all the relocated establishments.
