DSF Opens Without Fanfare

The 14th edition of the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) kicked off on Thursday without the customary fireworks.

However, the annual event promises denizens and tourists a unique shopping experience for a month. ;The night souq in Al Seef Street, Global Village and shopping malls are organising various events, raffle draws and discounts that will be a feast for all shopaholics.

The touring Chinese state Circus’s performance in the Dubai Festival Center throughout the DSF promises to be a spectacle unmatched and incomparable.


The 90-minute programme includes jaw-dropping acrobatic performances, high-speed performances by hoop divers, plate spinners, Chinese bicycle stunts and performances by Shaolin Wushu warriors, the centuries-old form of martial art, which is a must watch. The tickets for Shaolin Wushu warriors’ performances are priced at Dh50, Dh100 and Dh150. There will be two shows at 6pm and 9pm every day. ;Other fun activities and events will include a Street Fair with thrilling rides, displayed along the Marina Promenade; the already popular Thursday Rhythm Nights drumming challenge led by masters Lawrence and Mark; and the Festive Floating Stage, a newly launched venue for performances that will be located on Festival Marina and will ;host daily musical and theatrical acts. ;A key attraction at the Dubai Mall is the Themed Forest Story Show, brought to the UAE for the first-time ever.

The show is a 20-minute narration on the rich natural diversity of rainforests and features fantastic costumes and a backdrop complemented by a complex lighting ;system.


Other entertainment activities include cultural dance and acrobatic performances, children’s themed shows and roaming entertainment in key public areas of the mall.

Promotions and Raffle Draws

The Mall of the Emirates has lined a whopping Dh1 million for one lucky shopper.

Any shopper, who spends Dh350 or more at the mall’s outlets, enters a grand prize draw. The mega-million prize is made up of Dh200,000 in vouchers redeemable over a one-year period and the rest in cash. ;The Dubai Mall is hosting its own ‘Buy and Fly’ promotion where customers have the chance to win up to 30 international flight tickets and one of four grand prize holiday packages, courtesy Emirates Airlines.

For every Dh200 spent at the mall, customers will receive an entry raffle for the daily flight draws and the weekend grand prize holiday package draws.
