After more than two months of work from home, government offices in Dubai will start functioning in full capacity from June 14 onwards while adhering to strict precautionary measures, it was announced on Wednesday. All federal government offices across the UAE will also function with 30 per cent staff from May 31.
Dubai streets and public places were buzzing with activity on Wednesday as the emirate eased back to normalcy with restaurants, cinemas and gyms opening for business.
However, authorities have warned people that reopening of the sectors does in no way mean that the risk has abated. Gatherings were responsible for many new cases in the recent past. It is important to continue to avoid gathering, the ministry said.
In light of the latest developments, the ministry stressed that the resumption of economic activity around the country aims to support the national economy, but this does not mean that precautionary measures will be lifted.
The authorities urged all citizens and residents are still required to undertake all possible measures to reduce the spread of the virus and protect themselves, such as wearing face masks, washing hands, and practising social distancing.
The initiatives led by the health sector are continuing and include the National Disinfection Programme, conducting more tests, offering home screening for people of determination, citizens and residents, drive-through testing programmes, and the establishment of field hospitals, as well as supporting health volunteers as part of an integrated system that works around the clock to maintain public health and safety, the ministry added.
