The Fujairah Federal Court of First Instance on Thursday sentenced a policeman to a month in jail for attacking CID officers, while they were trying to arrest him for allegedly being involved in a criminal case.
According to court records, security agencies of the Fujairah Police were alerted by authorities in Abu Dhabi to apprehend A.M.A, a policeman working in the emirate and wanted in a criminal case. CID plainclothes cops moved to the house of the suspect, and while they tried to arrest him, he showed resistance and beat them before they managed to overcome him and escort him to the city police station.
On interrogation, he denied charges of attacking the CID cops, but said he was the one who was attacked and relentlessly beaten up by them.
He was referred to the public prosecution, which charged him with attacking and resisting law enforcement authority personnel.
The file of the case was sent to the Fujairah Court of First instance, which found him guilty of the charges leveled against him.
