There's been no escaping the rise in temperatures in the UAE of late, and with summer well and truly upon us, residents across the country have been making the most of their everyday items in a bid to get some respite from the scorching heat.
From the thirst-quenching bottle of water, to the unassuming house fan, workers have been turning their hand at anything to beat the heat.
For the ladies, it seems when the sunscreen isn't handy, umbrellas act as the perfect block from the ultraviolet rays. Though this folding canopy is most often used as a shield from the rain, a walk around the streets of the UAE will show you that it's proven to be the perfect shield from the sun, too!
The reliable pashmina is another tool of choice, doubling up as the perfect shade from the sun. Women across the city have taken to draping it over their heads and face - instead of their necks - to keep out the blazing sun.
But it's not just adjustments to one's self that people are resorting to as a means of cooling down. Tinting professionals here have been working full time, adding film tints to car windows following a boom in interest from motorists.
With the recent change in the Federal Traffic Law allowing car owners to tint their windows to 50 per cent - instead of the previous 30 per cent - these men have been shedding a lot of sweat as business heats up.
