The 36-year-old Abu Dhabi resident, who works as a family driver, spent around Dh700 at WTC Abu Dhabi to buy stuff to be sent to his baby boys Tasbi and Rayan, who were born in his hometown in Chittagong, a port city in the south eastern coast of Bangladesh.
The amount he spent made him eligible for the monthly raffle and on Sunday he became the first winner of the Dh1 million worth of gift cards which he can spend at any outlets under the Aldar Retail portfolio for one year.
"I really felt I'm the luckiest father on earth. It was the surprise of a lifetime for me when I received a call from WTC Abu Dhabi on Sunday," Mohammed told Khaleej Times over the phone on Monday. "I got married in February last year and we had our babies a week ago and now we are Dh1 million richer."
Mohammed first arrived in Abu Dhabi in 2009 and worked as a construction company driver before being employed as a family chauffeur.
When asked what he will do with the grand prize, Mohammed confidently said that he is planning to buy gold as a long-term investment for the future of his kids. He also said that he will share the prize not only with his wife but also with his parents, three sisters and two brothers.
"I'm overwhelmed with my luck and fortune - first becoming a father of twins last week, my lucky charms, then winning this amazing prize. It's still unbelievable for me, I am so happy," he added.
The next winners of the raffle draw will be announced on December 1 and January 2.
