The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has reminded public transport users in Dubai that some gold, silver and blue Nol cards representing the inaugural batch of these cards will expire on August 1 this year, having completed five years since they were issued on August 1, 2009.

Khalid Al Awadhi, director of Automated Fare Collection, RTA’s Corporate Technical Support Services Sector, said, “We would wish to remind the public to pay attention to the expiry dates of various types of gold, silver and blue Nol cards regularly used in daily travels aboard public transit means, and obtain new, valid cards instead.

“We would also like to alert public transport riders that the minimum balance to be maintained is Dh5.8 for gold, silver and blue Nol cards, Dh2.9 for personalised blue Nol cards for students and seniors, and Dh11.6 for expiring gold Nol cards,” he explained.

“Users of expired Nol cards who have balances in their cards higher than the minimum level can continue using their cards after their expiry till the balances run out, however it would not be possible for them to top them up,” noted Al Awadhi.

He said Nol card holders also have the option of transferring the balance of their expired cards to new ones. “Customers can visit the ticket office and fill out a form with his old Nol card attached requesting for the transfer of the balance to the newly purchased valid Nol card.”

Public transport riders can log on to the dedicated Nol card portal (www.nol.ae) for more information.
