Shaikh Humaid (Musharif) Bridge opened in the early hours of Tuesday to ensure a safe and smooth traffic movement in Ajman city.
The bridge, located on Al Ittihad Road facing Ajman City Centre and the Ajman Police headquarters, officially opened for traffic at 12 midnight.
Brigadier Shaikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Ajman Police, said a number of traffic patrols were deployed on the roads leading to the bridge during the opening.
This was done to ensure smooth traffic flow and also to direct the motorists to the bridge.
Temporary lanes and detours were made for the opening of the bridge on Tuesday.
The police have also installed signboards guiding motorists to the bridge. Brigadier Al Nuaimi said the emirate’s government gave due importance to the development of infrastructure to ensure stability and comfort of the citizens and residents, attract investors and boost tourism.
He urged motorists to abide by the instructions on the signboards. “Drive with caution on the new roads and detours,” Brigadier Al Nuaimi said.
“This bridge is one of the important projects aimed at development in the emirate,” he added.
