The 82nd Open Plates Auction saw an impressive public turnout, particularly as it included two-, three-, four- and five-digit number plates for private vehicles, which earned the Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai a whopping Dh25.905 million.

Mohammed Abdul Karim Nimaat, Director of Vehicles Licensing, RTA Licensing Agency, said: “About 100 distinguished numbers have been offered in the auction, and the public are showing keenness on taking part in distinguished number plate auctions regularly held by the RTA. In this session, 223 individuals spanning various ages and categories were attracted. Thirty-nine three-digit plates offered in the auction fetched the highest proceeds amounting to Dh11.7 million, while three binary numbers were sold for Dh6.52 million, 32 four-digit plates for Dh4.451 million, and 26 five-digit plates for Dh3.234 million.

“The auction saw positive and competitive bidding by zealous bidders, especially as it encompassed a diverse cast of distinguished numbers with different codes including the new code (O). The Licensing Agency will continue to stage open and online plate auctions in order to satisfy the needs of the public through the means that suit them, particularly as these auctions feature a transparent and clear mechanism in selection and buying.”

The next auction would be held in May.
