120 black points, licence seized for hazardous driving

Dubai — The Dubai Police have issued 120 black points on one driver and withdrawn the licence of another for endangering the lives of people while on the road and for a number of other traffic violations.

Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, director of the general department of traffic warned that nobody is above the law. He said respecting the law reflects a person’s values and stressed that the police will not accept violations of any kind.

He added that the traffic police had withdrawn the driving licence of the first driver who was involved in stunt driving at Al Marmum and Al Aweer areas in Dubai.

He drove the car in a dangerous way and endangered the lives of road users. He also attempted to escape from the police by removing his car number plates and tinting the glass more than the prescribed level.

His violations, in addition to dangerous driving, include driving without number plate, modification of car to increase speed and sound, tinting glasses more than the allowed level, and escaping from the police.

The police team followed him quietly and stopped him so that he does not drive rashly when being chased. He added that as per traffic laws the police have the right to arrest any driver who endangers people’s lives.

In the second case, the Dubai Police caught an Emirati man for driving without a number plate, modifying his car and causing chaos while on the road, thus endangering people’s lives, and escaping from the police.

The Dubai Police arrested him from the Jumeirah area in Dubai.

Col Al Mazroui said the police teams watched him drive recklessly after midnight and later arrested him.

He added that the police initiate awareness campaigns so that the public is made aware of the safety rules. He appealed to parents to prevent their children from driving recklessly.

Saif urged all community members to cooperate with the police and to inform them by calling the toll free number 8004353 if they came across any violations.
