Soniya ousts Lyubica

AJMAN — Russia’s Soniya Plotinikova defeated Serbian Lyubica Oskuras 7-5 6-0 in the girls under-12 of the 1st Ajman Kempinski Open Junior Tennis Championships.

In the first set, both the players broke each other three times to level at 5-5. However, Soniya stepped up game to win the next two crucial games to take the first set 7-5.

In the second set, Soniya was at her best as she dominated the proceedings to blank Lyubica 6-0 and win the match.

In another match, Mazan Angel edged out Zaina Sen in a closely fought match to win 7-5, 6-4.

In the boys under-14 semifinals, the top two seeds moved into the final with comfortable wins.

Top seed Karim Alaf outclassed Under-12 second seed Christian Linge 6-0, 6-0. Karim was so dominant that he won the match in half an hour.

In the second match, Jordan Janszen won the first set 6-0 as his erratic opponent Arjuna kept losing crucial points with unforced errors.

In the second set, Arjuna led 3-1 but Jordan fought back to make it 3-3. At 4-4, Jordan broke Arjuna’s serve after five deuces.

He then served out the last game again saving four break points to win 6-4.

In the boys under-14 doubles semifinals, top seeds Kareem Allaf and Jordan Janszen out played Adham Gabr and Zachriehr Faisal 6-0, 6-0.

In the second semifinals, Arjuna Ajai and Ansul Choubal outplayed Hamdy Ismail and Anton Bliznyuk 6-3, 6-1 to move into the final.

In the boys under-12 singles quarter-finals, top seed Karim Najia outplayed Mujahid Khan 6-1, 6-2 and Hamdy Ismail edged out Zachriah Faisal 7-5, 7-6.

In other quarter-finals, Adham Gabr blanked Dhruv Bahl 6-0, 6-0 and Christian Linge had an identical win over Tarek Najia 6-0, 6-0.
