The Rajasthan Royals Academy UAE Xmas Cricket Camp concluded on a successful note at Dubai’s The Sevens Stadium.

The camp provided a fun-packed week of cricket for boys and girls aged 5-16 looking to Play the Royals Way. Under the guidance of academy director — and former Zimbabwe captain — Graeme Cremer and coach Jacques Stolz, the budding young cricketers at the camp learned the skills of batting, bowling and fielding.“It was a busy week of skills for the kids, from learning what it means to be a top fielder at the highest level, to learning how to bowl all the different types of slower balls and yorkers, to playing all the funky shots in batting from scoops to ramps, it was all there,” said Cremer.

“The kids absolutely loved it, nearly as much as we enjoyed teaching it!”

Sessions ran throughout the week leading up to Christmas for the U7-U9s, and U10-U16s, and on the Monday saw Rajasthan Royals and India star Varun Aaron share his tips with the kids via a Zoom call. “It was an engaging and interactive session with the kids,” said Aaron.

“I hope I was able to share relevant experience and learnings with them which they can make use of in their game.”

The interaction with Aaron was the perfect way to end the year at the academy, as it builds into the first terms of 2021, which kick-off with the final six weeks of their ongoing programmes from 4 January to 13 February.

Players at U7, U9, U11, U13, U15, U17, U19 and seniors can all sign up for the specialist coaching at the academy. The focus of the academy is to develop male and female players of all ages and ability for the modern game, and there are also one-on-one sessions available as well as a specialist T20 programme.
