Going into my 40s, I’ve become a bit picky when it comes to my diet. The lookout for healthier food options has been accompanied by an (involuntary) transition from being a major carnivore, to now, more of an omnivore. And this quest to eat healthier has led me to recently discover Mondoux, a cosy spot at the Dubai Creek Harbour that shares my ongoing passion for nutrient-dense food.

The laid-back atmosphere settles you in quite calmly, while you wait for your meal. What especially caught my eye — I mean, tongue — was their Beyond Vegetarian Burger. It was the first time I’ve tasted a plant-based

burger, and I could say it’s as good as it’s advertised. And if you’re a vegan, just request them to get rid of the cheese and voila. It was the most interesting thing — that and anything with avocados, including their avocado salad and eggs benedict with avocado. The former is a delicious combination of zucchinis, cherry tomatoes and handmade basil pesto, while the latter is just the perfect way to perk you up in the morning, with a rich breakfast meal.

The breads are made in-house, guaranteeing freshness and premium quality. Their brioche toast has a perfect touch of sweet, with an added glaze.

For dessert, the cocoa crêpe, homemade cheesecake and crème bruleé were all winners, but what stood out was the chocolate fondant, with a warm chocolatey core. And chocolate is a Mondoux signature. They source the finest cocoa beans from India, helping farmers and

promoting sustainability, through their meals. And they have ‘coco shanel’ as a mascot for good measure!
